Refreshing, Simple, and Garden Fresh!
There’s something really special about using ingredients you grew yourself. My basil has been thriving in my little backyard planter box this season, and I knew I wanted to use it in something light, crisp, and perfect for sipping outside. PLUS it's strawberry season so this drink screams summer!
This strawberry basil splash mocktail is one of those drinks that feels fancy but takes barely any effort to make. It’s the kind of thing I’ll whip up on a warm afternoon or serve to friends when we’re sitting on the patio. The combination of sweet strawberries, tart lemon juice, and fragrant basil leaves is bright, fresh, and super satisfying.
Let’s Talk About That Fresh Basil

One of the best parts about this drink is the basil. Not just because it smells incredible and pairs beautifully with strawberries, but because I picked it straight from my backyard herb garden! This year, I finally put together a small planter box dedicated to fresh herbs I can use in mocktails.
If you’re thinking about starting a mocktail herb garden, basil is a perfect place to start. It grows quickly, smells amazing, and can be used in so many drink recipes like a spritz or a lemonade-based mocktail!
Other great herbs for your mocktail garden:
Mint – classic for mojito and mules
Rosemary – great in more savory or citrus-forward drinks
Lavender – for when you want something floral and soothing (make sure it's food grade!!)
Thyme – lovely with berries or honey-based drinks
Ingredients
3–4 fresh strawberries, sliced
1 lemon - juiced
1–2 fresh basil leaves (roll the basil leaves and cut into "slices")
Club soda, to top
Optional garnish: extra basil leaf or strawberry slice
How To Make a Strawberry Basil Splash:
Muddle the strawberries, cut basil leaves, and lemon juice in a glass until the berries are broken down and the basil is fragrant.
Fill the glass with ice.
Top with cold club soda & mix together.
Garnish with a basil leaf or a strawberry slice
Notes: You could also use a separate glass and a fine mesh strainer after muddling to not have "pieces" of strawberry and basil in your drink.
The Strawberry Basil Splash is light and refreshing! Using homegrown basil makes it feel extra special, but store-bought is just fine, too! If you try this one, I’d love to hear how you liked it or see your version on Instagram. Tag me and show off those garden-grown ingredients!
